Bio for the Rev. Dr. Linnea E. Carnes
The Rev. Dr. Linnea Carnes has been the pastor of Immanuel Evangelical Covenant Church in Chicago since 1999. During her ministry, the congregation changed from predominantly white American to its current multiethnic composition, representing fourteen nationalities, which is reflective of the community surrounding the church. Dr. Carnes earned a Bachelor of Music Education from the University of Kansas (1965), a Master of Divinity from Denver Seminary (1991) and a Doctor of Ministry in Preaching from North Park Theological Seminary (2006). Her Doctoral Thesis was entitled “One Voice Among Many: Preaching in a Multiethnic Congregation” a subject that emerged from her pastoral experience. Dr. Carnes was ordained in The Evangelical Covenant Church in 1993.
Dr. Carnes has held a variety of staff positions at a number of churches since 1966. She has also served as pastor of churches in Denver, Colorado and Pawtucket, Rhode Island. Dr. Carnes is married with two married sons and four grandchildren.
